The Carpenters: A Christmas Portrait aired on ABC in 1978 right after an episode of Laverne & Shirley.

It was Richard and Karen Carpenter’s fourth TV special and second and final one for Christmas.

Many of the songs were from Spike Jones’ 1956 Xmas Spectacular which Karen and Richard listened to as children, as were the songs on their album from that year, Christmas Portrait which has long been a part of my CD collection.
