You can see first episode of Ellen Page’s new series ‘Gaycation’ in its entirety right here

Ellen Page’s new series Gaycation, which will soon air on the upcoming 24-hour TV network Viceland, got a head start this week when its first episode became available on YouTube.

In the series, the Oscar nominated actress and her best friend Ian Daniel tour the globe to learn about what life is like for LGBT people in other places.

They are in Japan for this first episode and at one point, Ellen and Ian are seen walking in Tokyo, with Ellen admitting: ‘This my first time in the gay district of Tokyo. In the past I was too closeted to come to the gay area.’

The Juno star came out publicly in February 2014 and has experience widespread acceptance in the US from her fans.

She learns things are not so easy in Japan where gay people are not very accepted, understood or even acknowledged.

One of the most powerful moments in this first episode comes when Ellen and Ian go through with the symbolic same-sex marriage ceremony in Kyoto created by a Buddhist monk and a hotel events planner.

She says these deeply-felt vows to Ian: ‘I love you. You came into my life in the most wonderful, strange way. I truly don’t know who I would be or what I would do without you and without your friendship. You’re one of the most supportive, non-judgmental, kind, generous of spirit people I’ve ever met and I’m so grateful that I’m on this journey with you.’ ‘
