Wishing a happy birthday to Matt Bomer!

Today is the 42nd birthday of one of my favorite actors, Matt Bomer.

This guy is aces.

I first met Matt when he was starring in the USA series White Collar. Every time I’ve seen him since, he has been genuinely warm and friendly as a person and thoughtful as an interview subject.

He seems to be a genuinely terrific guy so it’s easy to be so happy for his success which has included a Golden Globe-winning and Emmy-nominated performance in The Normal Heart, a lead role in American Horror Story: Hotel, the lead role in Amazon’s The Tycoon, and a role in the Magic Mike movies.

Matt has also starred in some solid indie films including Walking Out, Papi Chulo, and Anything. In the latter film, Matt received some criticism from the transgender community for the casting of a cisgender man to play a transgender woman. I went to a screening of the little-seen film and feel badly that more people didn’t get to see Matt’s sensitive portrayal.

More recently, Matt has been recurring on Will & Grace as Will’s love interest and is in the film version of The Boys in the Band which he also co-starred in on Broadway.
