Will “The Bold and the Beautiful” finally have a gay character in young Thomas Forrester?
One Life to Live’s Fish and Kyle were abruptly written out of the show a year ago and have not been seen again. Then the cancellation on As the World Turns meant the end of Luke and Reid and Luke and Noah. And we don’t see near enough of Phillip or Rafe on Young and the Restless.
So will the daytime soaps ever have another front-burner gay character?
It could happen on CBS’s Emmy winning The Bold and the Beautiful which is set in an LA fashion scene so far devoid of any gays.
“That is a legitimate beef,” executive producer Brad Bell says in the new issue of TV Guide Magazine. “And we need to do something about it.”
Might that something be young couturier Thomas Forrester played by Adam Gregory?
“He’s a late bloomer who’s finding himself sexually, and Adam plays the role with an element of mystery,” Bell said. “Adam’s new to us. I’m still getting to know him as an actor and assessing his chemistry with various ladies. Potentially, this could still be a gay storyline.”

Douglas says:
Well that would be interesting. Adam Gregory is a devout MORMON. Wonder how he would like playing gay?
Ahmed says:
It is much, much, much overdue — I can’t figure out why there is this reluctance on the part of B and B to introduce gay characters and story lines… Daytime is so behind public opinion on issues of race, gender and sexuality, which might explain the dwindling ratings…. I love B & B and am totally disappointed that in the year 2011 we are still waiting for a gay storyline! Please, soap gods, make it happen:)
