“White Collar” star Matt Bomer is asked about gay speculation: “I don’t care about that at all.”
Matt Bomer, who plays Nick Cafferty on the terrific new USA Network show White Collar, has never publicly come out as a gay man.
But a photo of him passionately kissing another man have surfaced online he has never denied reports about his sexuality. In a new interview with Details, Bomer is asked if it bothers him that so much that has been written about him is speculation that he is gay.
Here is his reply: “I don’t care about that at all. I’m completely happy and fulfilled in my personal life.”
The interviewer follows up by stating: “But you don’t want to talk about it” to which Bomer says: “I have a network and a show riding on my shoulders. I would say a big difference between my character and me is that I can be too trusting. And I’ve realized in this business, that’s not necessarily the smartest thing to be. I definitely have a thing or two to learn from the con artists.”
Matt was also asked about his first big break: “Guiding Light, nine years ago. I played a trust-fund baby who became a male prostitute, killed three people, kidnapped a girl, then killed himself in front of her father and her boyfriend. You know, just your average slice-of-life piece.”

You said it all in your October 30th, 2009 post:
It would be great if he were to decide to be more open like Luke Macfarlane, Neil Patrick Harris, B.D. Wong, T.R. Knight, John Barrowman, Bryan Batt and Jesse Tyler Fergeson, all openly gay actors starring in hit television shows playing gay or straight characters.
The choice of how much to discuss and when is up to him. I wish Matt well personally and professionally.

Matt is a talented actor and wonderful guy with a lovely family. He is on his way to the A-List in Hollywood and is plotting the correct course. Congrats Matt, success couldn’t happen to better guy!
John says:
@ Daniel
Plotting the correct course?
I can understand his reticence to come out to the media at this stage. But how does he see this panning out, I wonder? He won’t be able to leave his personal life out of interviews forever. Even if a talk show host asks as simple a question as “Did you go on holiday this summer?”, the follow-up question is likely to be “And you went with your…?” Even the “non-celebby” Meryl Streep mentions her kids, her husband etc.
He’ll have to make a decision about personal integrity vs ambition evenetually.

I agree, John. I saw a little of that in an interview with Kathy Lee Gifford on the Today Show.
I recall her asking about his Christmas plans he was vague, vague, vague. And that wasn’t a personal question.

He’s an excellent actor and gorgeous man. Why can’t people let celebrities have a PRIVATE life? No one he is not personally involved should even feel that they are deserving of that information. Just put yourself in his position, would you want everything you do known by the world?

I have yet to see anyone as charming, handsome and magnetic, besides my husband of course! My guess is that Matt’s personality off screen reflects a lot of his persona on camera. He emits confidence, comfort and grace which is rare now-a-days. Let him be…straight or gay, who cares? Matt is talented, engaging and very refreshing! Thanks for a fabulous season!

So…what’s your sexual orientation? Who are you involved with? How many kids do you have and are they biologically yours? NONE OF MY BUSINESS! Exactly the point. Who cares if he is gay or straight, involved or single? Great show. Awesome actor. Can you tell I’m bored? I never post to these things but I stand by my opinion. A star’s life is fascinating but honestly, it’s none of our business and we should be more worried about our own lives. Love and light.

I would just like to point out that if you’re going to write an article about someone at least do a little research. Nick Cafferty?? His character’s name is Neal Caffrey.
