What’s gay about “Sexiest Man Alive” issue
There had been reports that Neil Patrick Harris was among the three finalists for People Magazine’s ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ title.
But when the magazine hit the stands today, it was Australian hunk Chris Hemsworth on the cover.
Harris made light of the speculation after Hemsworth was announced by tweeting: ‘…I was almost so sexy…’
The Tony winner and recently named Oscar host can be found on page 150 of the 170-page issue under the title of ‘Sexiest Moments of the Year.’
He and husband David Burtka are seen in a pose for their London Fog ad campaign on a page that also featured such moments as Nick Jonas’ abs being displayed in a photo shoot and George Clooney at his Italian wedding.
But the issue’s 208 ‘gorgeous guys’ featured, there does appear to be more gay representation than ever before.
Matt Bomer is among the men who ‘made a serious splash in 2014.’
He anchors page 116 with four other men and describes his personal seduction techniques: ‘I’ve definitely left some trails of flower petals before, but mostly I write songs and sing them to the people I love.’
Others in the issue include: Adam Lambert (‘From Geeky to Gorgeous’); designer and director Tom Ford (‘Sexy at Any Age’); Andy Cohen (‘Love Me, Love My Dog’) and Portand, Oregon, TV newsman Reggie Aqui who was a finalist for ‘Hottest Anchor.’
Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson and lawyer husband Justin Mikita made one of the oddly titled ‘They Snagged a Sexy Civilian’ page which features a ‘diverse group of accomplished partners.’
And then there is a pair featured on the ‘Hottest Guys From Around the World’ pages: Tony winner Alan Cumming (Scotland) and former Dancing With the Stars pro Louis van Amstel (Netherlands).
There has yet to be an openly gay ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ in the nearly 30 years that the magazine has been bestowing the title om such stars as Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Richard Gere, Tom Cruise and last year’s choice Adam Levine.

Charlie says:
I’ve always thought there was a glaring lack of gay men in the issue in the past. Glad that we are finally finding some representation!
K. Martinez says:
While it’s nice to break barriers, It doesn’t matter to me what sexuality they are as long as they fit the title. It’s all just bullshit anyway.
As for Matt Bomer, I don’t get it. He’s just okay. Too pretty boy for my taste. Neil Patrick Harris is a good choice, but it’s his husband David Burtka that I find sexy. They do make a handsome couple.
