As someone who was in the audience in Des Moines, I believe the Advocate article does a complete disservice to Pete Buttigieg’s eloquent speech, which culminated with his personal experiences as a young gay person, who now is asking voters to stand with him in his quest to unite America. The writer seems to have missed the last two paragraphs of the remarkable speech. A much more accurate headline would have been: Buttigeig electrified Des Moines event, producing loudest and longest response of all the candidates who spoke.
