Wednesday Morning Man: Thom Bierdz!
It’s such a wonderful story that Thom Bierdz, a closeted actor when he was a cast member of The Young and the Restless in the 80s, returns after a 20-year absence to his role as Phillip Chancellor III.
Not only did Thom come out in real life during the intervening years, but so did Phillip – at least that’s what we’ve learned in recent weeks with Thom’s return to the show. He didn’t do much acting during the years in between, instead becoming an accomplished writer and painter.

In fact, I first met Thom when I was assigned to do a story on his book Forgiving Troy – about the family tragedy of his brother murdering their mother – and I remember getting this big allergy attack right before the interview.
I arrived a sneezy mess and we laughed about it and had a terrific chat and I remember just being so amazed at his paintings which really is his true gift. Still, I’m glad to see him acting again. It seemed like there was some unfinished business there.
Enjoy these photos of the very handsome Thom!
