WATCH: Playwright Tarell Alvin McCraney accepts HRC Visionary Arts Award for ‘Moonlight’

@MoonlightMov took home the HRC Visionary Arts Award at the @hrcgreaterny event on Saturday. Playwright Tarell Alvin McCraney accepted the award on behalf of the film. "An ally means giving voice to the voiceless by passing them the mic not by speaking for them. An ally allows the light from the moon to shine on the privileged and the margined alike," McCraney said. "For a long time I believed that the community I was from, the story I told about it, had limits… but once you get an ally, once you get a brother like [Moonlight director Barry Jenkins]… you are limitless." #LGBTQ #LGBT #Equality #EqualityForward #moonlightmovie
