WATCH: Pete Buttigieg speaks to PBS News Hour about why he regularly speaks on Fox News

When Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg spoke at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago on Wednesday, he introduced himself with the line, “You might recognize me from Fox News.”

In an interview with PBS News on Thursday, speaking in his personal capacity, Buttigieg said he’s proud to go on conservative outlets to speak on behalf of the Harris-Walz campaign because certain arguments and facts might not otherwise be aired in these places.

“I’m pretty sure that a majority of Fox viewers sincerely are unaware that crime went down in this country after Donald Trump was defeated because it just wasn’t reported very much on that network,” he said. “So to the extent that they’re willing to invite me there, I think it’s important for me to take the opportunity.”

Buttigieg also discussed his views on Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz’s military service and how Vice President Kamala Harris has brought different corners of the Democratic Party together.

“She’s demonstrated both as vice president and as leader of our party her capacity to bring people together, which is so important right now. And she’s offered a vision that is just more in line with what most Americans believe in,” he said.

One Remark

  1. No matter what you feel about Pete Buttigieg, it’s really nice to see someone who is good at what he does. His ability to speak clearly and to answer questions fully in a succinct manner is outstanding.
