WATCH: Olympic skier Gus Kenworthy is presented with the HRC Visibility Award at Utah Gala
Olympic skier Gus Kenworthy talked about the importance of being out at the 2017 HRC Utah Gala this weekend. He admits that fear of people finding out that he is gay ‘used to keep me up at night.’ He realized he was gay at 7 when he noticed a hunky lifeguard in red swing trunks. He knew it was something he shouldn’t tell anyone about. He says: ‘That secret was the beginning of my life in the closet. In that moment and countless other moments throughout my young life, I wished that I could be invisible.’
