WATCH: Dolly Parton makes Stephen Colbert cry
Dolly Parton graced the A Late Show With Stephen Colbert audience with a bit of Bury Me Beneath The Willow, a song her mom would to sing to her as a child and it brought Colbert to tears.
Dolly stopped her singing and said, “Oh, you’re crying? I better hush before you cry yourself to death and we can’t finish the show.”
Replied Colbert: “Like a lot of Americans, I’m under a lot of stress right now, Dolly. You got my trip wire right there. I’ll tell you. That was pretty beautiful.”
Dolly’s new book Songteller: My Life in Lyrics is available everywhere now, and her new album is A Holly Dolly Christmas.

Chip says:
I’ve been a fan of Dolly my entire life. I’m not even all that crazy about country music. Dolly is different. As a child I was drawn to her and it has never gone away.
She’s one of those people I feel we don’t deserve in some way. She’s so incredibly genuine and altruistic that she seems almost unreal. Thank you for covering her latest! I feel like Cyndi Lauper is another of these and I appreciate that you cover her frequently as well.
