Video: The aftermath of the Kish kiss on “One Life to Live” is a well-written one
Of all the gay storylines going on these days on daytime soaps (It’s so nice to have more than one!), I think One Life to Live has had the best writing – by far. It’s a story actually rooted in reality as Fish tries to stay in the closet – is desperate to – and has a former lover, Kyle, complicating his life.
His lies begin to unravel as Christian, his girlfriend Layla’s roommate catches Fish and Kyle kissing passionately. Fish pushed Kyle away and says: “This Guy’s been stalking me!”
But Christian is onto the whole charade and I love what he says to Fish: “You’ve got to stop lying, especially to Layla. I don’t care If you’re gay, there’s nothing wrong with that. but you have to tell her.”
Fish then refers to Kyle as a freak who won’t leave him alone but Christian is having none of it: “He’s not a freak and neither are you, So you kissed him back so you’re gay – what’s the big deal?”
I love this, I love this writing and that we have a straight male character who doesn’t freak out about someone being gay. The world has changed and Christian’s attitude reflects that.
