Video: “Star Trek” icon tells a harrowing story of Japanese American Internment and how “It Got Better”
Such a remarkable life!
When he was a child, George Takei’s family was uprooted from their family home and taken two-thirds across the US and placed in a Japanese American Internment where they lived until he was 8.
That was just the beginning.
He then dealt with being a famous actor and being secretly gay.
In this It Got Better video, he tells the story of when he finally decided to come out publicly and his career, which he had been protecting, expanded.

Charlie says:
George is a great guy. I’m so happy that he was able to come out of the closet publicly and to just bloom! I think that his coming out made him more relaxed and open to whatever may come his was career wise. Just very happy for him.
