Video: On World AIDS Day, one let’s revisit one of the most memorable scenes of “Designing Women”

This 1987 episode of Designing Women was titled “Killing All the Right People” and it guest starred Tony Goldwyn as Kendall Dobbs, a friend of the women of Sugarbaker’s and fellow decorator. He announces to the women that he is dying of AIDS and wants them to design his funeral. Another client overhears – a real anti-gay bigot – and it results in one of the best Julia Sugarbaker tirades ever.

Kudos to series creator Linda Bloodworth-Thomason who knew this kind of cruel bigotry and ignorance first-hand after her mother got AIDS from a blood transfusion.
