Video: Mardy Fish gets stuck in the net at BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, is rescued by opponent Ryan Harrison

Not able to make it out to the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells this year but am following the matches online and on television. I remember seeing Mardy Fish play a match there about a decade ago and am so glad to see him back out there playing again.

Mardy, now 33, is competing in an ATP World Tour event for the first time since August 2013. He had been struggling with a heart problem that led to a struggle with panic attacks. The health issues came as Mardy was playing the best tennis of his career.

He has spoken out against homophobia and transphobia in sports and I’m rooting for him to have a successful comeback.

Mardy lost in the first round to fellow American Ryan Harrison in his first match back after having two match points in the third set. He went down 6-4 4-6 7-6 (7/3) in two hours 36 minutes to his 22-year-old opponent.
