I continue to be so impressed with this young man and how well he conducts himself in interviews. He’s well-spoken but also a lot of fun and seems comfortable in his own skin.

There are those who are hating on him for not publicly discussing his sexuality. Not me. It’s up to him – totally.

He talked with Jay about his childhood in the Amish country of Pennsylvania: I’m not Amish, I had electricity growing up. I grew up in a subdivision in the middle of these Amish farms. I was so sheltered as a result. … I didn’t know who Whitney Houston was until I was about 12 years old. I didn’t know what was going on in the real world.”

Jay touched on the Smuckers Stars on Ice controversy and Johnny’s clearly unfair judging marks at last month’s Olympics. He finished sixth but skated so well and error free and should have placed fourth at the very least.

He just seems to be too flamboyant for some of these folks and it’s damned unfair.

“I felt like I skated like a champion, that’s all I can do then the judges do everything else,” he told Jay. “I felt that I did everything I could do to be a medalist.”
