Video: Dustin Lance Black talks about the politics of the Mormon Church with Joy Behar

After enduring Carrie Prejean on The View,. I’m sure Joy Behar was happy to get back to the set of her nightly HLN show which has quickly turned into must-see TV.

Last night, Joy welcomed Oscar winner Dustin Lance Black to the sh0w for a discussion about the Mormon church and at the end, he shared how damaging the anti-gay rhetoric was for him when he was young: “When I was a little kid in the Mormon Church I heard the head of  the Mormon Church … and he said next to the sin of murder comes the sin of homosexuality. It was so devastating because because I knew I was gay when I was 8.”

When Joy asked if he had any advice for gay kids, she made a lame joke about not “watching Project Runway in front of your parents.”

Lance didn’t just laugh and let it go. He replied: “No, keep watching it and let them know it’s okay.”
