Two new movie roles for Neil Patrick Harris
Neil Patrick Harris certainly seized his moment at the end of last night’s Tony Awards telecast with his closing number an absolute You Tube sensation.This guy, (pictured below with longtime boyfriend David Burtka last night) seems to cause buzz with whatever he does whether it’s How I Met Your Mother, The TV Land Awards, Harold & Kumar or Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog.
Now, less than 24 hours after he hosted the Tony Awards – which enjoyed its highest ratings in three years – comes word that NPH will star in the indie comedy The Best and the Brightest and has a supporting role in the CBS film Beastly, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Best and Brightest was co-written and is to be directed by Josh Shelov. It focuses on a Delaware couple who move to the Upper East Side and get embroiled in the world of private kindergarten. Neil will play the happy-with-his-status dad while Bonnie Somerville plays the very class-aware mom.
Beastly is a modern Beauty and the Beast revamp that will star Vanessa Hudgens and Mary-Kate Olsen. NPH will play a blind tutor who helps Alex Pettyfer after he gets “turned into a hideous young man.”
Neil will complete both films during his summer hiatus from How I Met Your Mother. Hopefully he can find time to host the Emmys too! I’d love to see that.
