TV dramedy based on life of RuPaul is in the works!

There may soon be a double dose of RuPaul on television – and that would be a very good thing.

The life of the Emmy-winning host of RuPaul’s Drag Race is the basis for a new half-hour comedy-drama series that is being developed.

The still-untitled show is a fictionalized version of RuPaul’s rise from club kid to drag queen, according to Deadline Hollywood.

The project was inspired by the period of RuPaul’s life when he settled in New York City and became a popular drag queen fixture on the nightclub scene in the 1980s.

The project is from J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions which has teamed with RuPaul and World of Wonder which produces RuPaul’s Drag Race.

RuPaul revealed on live television last week that he and longtime partner Georges LeBar got married in January. The couple wed on the 23rd anniversary of the day they met.

The ninth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race premieres this week.
