Totally Random Video: Relive the moment when Susan Lucci finally wins her first Emmy after 18 losses

After being nominated 19 times for Outstanding Lead Actress in a daytime drama, Susan Lucci finally won her first Emmy at the 26th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards in 1999.

As her losses mounted, interest in the Daytime Emmys increased each year as people tuned in to see if the streak would finally be broken.

Lucci, long one of the most popular actresses in daytime television, spoofed the losses in a Saturday Night Live sketch and in a widely seen commercial for an artificial sweetener.

The losses made her more famous than ever and she was one of the few daytime stars to successfully transition to prime-time roles in a long list of TV movies and a recurring role on the prime-time soap Dallas. After All My Children was canceled, Lucci starred as Genevieve Delatour in the Lifetime television series Devious Maids.

Below is the moment she finally won and her very emotional speech.

    Tommy Marx says:

Holy crap! If I ever won an award in an alternate life, I hope I am even a fraction as amazing as Susan was. That was one of the best acceptance speeches I’ve ever seen.
