Tori had her say, now it’s Candy’s turn
I got an early copy of Stories from Candyland a few days ago written by Candy Spelling – Tori’s mother in case you’ve been sleeping under a rock. Her daughter, a gay fave from her reality show So NoTORIous and the indie films Kiss the Bride and Trick, wrote a best-seller last year that caused her mom some grief. Let’s just say Candy was not always painted in the best light.
Candy writes:
It’s fine if she wants her own reality show or wants to write books about her childhood. I just wish she’d leave me out of it. I’d be glad to testify in a court of law that Tori has had a fascinating life. She has great stories to tell. She knows wonderful people. She has plenty to talk about without saying, “I wish I were closer to my mother” or “Did you see what my mother wrote on her Web site?”
Let me walk you through what happens every time Tori talks about me. It doesn’t matter if what she says is true, if she’s joking, if she’s testing, or if she’s just being provocative for ratings. But, of course, each of us has out own perception of reality. When Tori says the word mother, the focus of my life changes temporarily; and I like the normal focus better than the distractions.

Candy goes on to write about how she was having one of a series of surgeries in her arm, elbow and shoulder the day Tori was all over the airwaves promoting her book STORItelling. When she was in the hospital parking lot, a woman wanted to know if she was “that Mrs. Spelling.”
“Hi, I’m Candy Spelling,” she said.
Woman: “Why did you give your daughter only $800,000 when her father died? What kind of a mother are you?”
