Tom Hardy to play Elton John in feature film

Elton John is going to have a pair of the sexiest lips when his life story makes it to the big screen.
That’s because the owner of those lips, Tom Hardy, has just been cast to play Elton in Rocketman due to begin production next fall.
The musical spectacle is to be directed by Michael Gracey from an original screenplay by Lee Hall. It has the cooperation of Elton himself who will re-record many of his classic hits for his life story.
Hardy, 36, is best known for his roles in such Hollywood blockbusters as The Dark Knight Rises, Star Trek: Nemesis and Inception as well as extensive television work and some stage roles.
‘Tom is quickly becoming known as one of the world’s most versatile actors, and like others at the top of their craft, he has proven his ability to transform himself completely into the character or subject found in the material,’ Focus Features CEO Peter Schlessel tells The Wrap.
‘We are confident that Tom will embody the physicality and spirit of Sir Elton,’ Schlessel adds.
Before stepping into Elton’s shoes, Hardy is playing the title role in Mad Max: Fury Road.
