Tom Ford wouldn’t want to dress Melania Trump: ‘She’s not necessarily my image.’

Most designers would jump at the chance to dress a First Lady of the United States.

But not when that First Lady is Melania Trump and the designer is Tom Ford.

Ford, who has also become an acclaimed film director, was asked on ABC’s The View on Wednesday about the possibility of doing a design for the former model.

‘I was asked dress her years ago, and I declined,’ Ford said.

He was then asked why and said simply: ‘She’s not necessarily my image.’

Ford went on to say that he is Democrat who voted for Hillary Clinton who was defeated by Republican Donald Trump.

‘I’m very sad and disappointed that she’s not in office,’ he said.

‘Even if Hillary had won she shouldn’t have been wearing my clothes – they’re too expensive.’

But he did dress Michelle Obama once when she was going to Buckingham Palace for a dinner with Queen Elizabeth II.

The discussion about Mrs. Trump begins at the 00:50 mark.

3 Remarks

  1. I wish with all my heart also that Hillary had won also. I also am a designer also but not of clothing I understand Tom Ford’s point.
But the way he performed this on the View needs a reshoot and a rewrite!

  2. Diplomatic yet cutting. I continue to love this man.

  3. @Vern-I respectfully disagree.
