Today’s Morning Man: Pablo Andújar!
Tennis pro Pablo Andújar caused heartbreak yesterday for Roger Federer fans when he upset the Swiss legend in his opening match at the Geneva Open.
Fed, 39, is on the comeback trail and this was just his third match in 15 months or so.
But we won’t hold it against the handsome Spaniard Pablo who currently has a world ranking of 80. He’s won four career titles and been ranked as high as 32nd in the world.
Pablo knows all about the kind of comeback Federer is attempting.
Between March 2016 and April 2017, he underwent three elbow surgeries with three different doctors and considered retirement if the third surgery didn’t work. Upon his return in January 2018, he lost five of his first six matches but in April of that year, won his fourth ATP tournament and his first for four years when he beat Kyle Edmund in straight sets in the final in Marrakesh.
In September 2019, he reached the fourth round of a grand slam for the first time, at the US Open.
