Today’s Morning Man: Brant Daugherty!

I’m gradually bringing back Morning Man feature – at least several days a week. I know lots of you have missed it because you like seeing and learning more about dreamy guys like actor Brant Daugherty who is celebrating his 37th birthday today.

Brant has been starring as the romantic lead in a slew of TV movies – many airing on Hallmark – including A Royal Runaway Romance, Mingle All the Way, The Baker’s Son, Just for the Summer, The Nature of Romance, Timeless Love, and many more!

In 2018, Brant played Luke Sawyer in the film Fifty Shades Freed. He was best known for his recurring role as Brian on Days of Our Lives, a character who dated Sonny Kiriakis for far too brief a time. But Sonny’s heart belonged only to Will.

I interviewed Brant in 2013 for Gay Star News and here’s what he said about his time on Days: Here is a little snippet about his time on Days of Our Lives earlier this year. As Brian, he briefly came between Sonny and Will.

‘I really like the way they handled the storyline and that’s why I accepted the part,’ he said. ‘I wanted to be a part of a show where the gay characters had the same depth and problems that the straight characters had. When they wanted to bring me in as part of a triangle, I jumped at it.’

Fans who would see Daugherty out and about had mixed reactions.

‘People love the characters of Sonny and Will and want them to be together so everyone gets up in arms,’ he said. ‘But there were a lot who were supportive of me too – they wanted to see things a little mixed up.’

Brant also played Noel Kahn on the ABC Family series Pretty Little Liars, was a regular of the cast of Lifetime Network’s Army Wives for season 7, and competed in season 17 of Dancing with the Stars

He married actress Kimberly Hidalgo on June 15, 2019 and their son Wilder was born in March 2021.
