Today’s Holiday Tune: Judy Garland singing “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas”
After several weeks of holiday tunes, I’ve saved the very best one for Christmas Day.
The great Judy Garland introduced Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas in this scene from the 1944 MGM musical Meet Me in St. Louis.
Miss Garland sings the song to Margaret O’Brien who plays her little sister in this scene from the classic film.

It is not well known that this song was originally written with a rather sad ending. Miss Garland refused to sing it until the ending was written with a happier ending for a world that needed all the hope it could get at that time.
