Tim Gunn remembers his days being bullied – and a friend who came to his defense: “It was sublime”
Tim Gunn talked to The Friend Movement about his days of being bullied: “I have spent a huge amount of my life being bullied quite frankly and it profoundly affected me.’
‘I was already a challenged kid because I had a very, very debilitating stutter so it was immediately something to make fun of. I was a very easy target and it meant that I was a solitary kid.’
But he did have a few friends, including one named Craig Smith.
‘He confronted a group of kids in the playground saying, “Leave him alone. This isn’t his fault. He can’t do anything about it.'”
Gunn says of that day: ‘When Craig stood up for me, the attacks, the bullying, was instantly dissipated. … I was just so grateful for that moment … it was sublime. I’ll love Craig forever for that.’
