Throwback Thursday: When Major League Baseball’s Billy Bean was in the play “The Nature of the Beach”

I posted a story over at Gay Star News earlier today about Billy Bean being named Major League Baseball’s Vice President of Social Responsibility and Inclusion.

It’s a remarkable story of this man who cut his baseball career short in the 1980s because of the agony of being in the closet and years later returns as an executive working to make the league a more welcoming place for all players.

After writing the story, I headed over to Billy’s Facebook page to look for a good photo of him on the job last year when he was working as the league’s inaugural Ambassador for Inclusion and came across these fun photos from a play Billy appeared in I don’t know when.

It was called The Nature of the Beach and while I don’t know how good an actor Billy was in it, he sure looked terrific!
