Throwback Thursday: Dames Angela Lansbury and Julie Andrews as you’ve never seen them before!
Had never seen this before last night and what a piece of buried treasure. It’s from The Julie Andrews Hour, a variety series that ran on ABC for 24 episodes during the 1972-73 season. Bad time slots meant low ratings but the show received critical raves and won seven Emmys. Miss Lansbury had starred in Bedknobs and Broomsticks a year earlier – one of her most beloved films. In 1974, she would return to Broadway in a revival of Gypsy and win the third of what would eventually be five Tony Awards.
Enjoy these two legends as they were 50 years ago!
