Thomas Roberts on his gay marriage: “It’s only made our lives better…The otherness, it’s time for that to go away”

MSNBC anchor Thomas Roberts, who married his longtime partner Patrick Abner last fall, is reporting on the Supreme Court hearings this week on DOMA and Prop. 8.

For a moment yesterday, he took off his reporter’s hat and reflected on for viewers of MSNBC’s The Cycle what marriage has meant to him and his husband.

“Getting married in the fall was something very personal, and very incredible!” he says. “It’s only made our lives better…The otherness, it’s time for that to go away.”
