Thomas Roberts drops out as host of Miss USA
Thomas Roberts will not be co-hosting the upcoming Miss USA pageant after all.
The host of MSNBC Live with Thomas Roberts was to have returned for the second year and be teamed with Cheryl Burke of NBC’s I Can Do That for the July 12 event.
Both are now out following NBC’s decision to sever business ties with pageant owner Donald Trump. Trump has been under fire since making highly controversial comments about Mexican immigration when announcing his presidential bid.
Roberts had also hosted the two most recent Miss Universe pageants owned by Trump and aired on NBC.
The newsman had lobbied for the job back in 2013 when Miss Universe was held in Moscow. Original hosts Andy Cohen and Giuliana Rancic had dropped out because of an anti-gay propaganda law passed in Russia earlier that year.
Roberts, who is openly gay, saw the hosting gig as an opportunity for LGBTI people and traveled to Russia with husband Patrick Abner.
Roberts sent out this tweet earlier today: Best of luck to all #MissUSA2015 contestants this year & THX to the good people behind the scenes @MissUniverse – been a joy working w/you!

K. Martinez says:
I guess you pick and choose what’s important to you. Meanwhile, Donald Trump is making an ass of himself as usual.
FAEN says:
@ K Martinez-some days I think Trump is a Dem plant. He makes us look progressive(which we are to a degree)while exposing the GOP/Teabaggers for the racist, xenophobic, homophobic, transphobic, misogynist pigs they are.
The debates will really be popcorn-in my case sushi-TV.
