The return of “Chico’s Angels”

OMG, does this look funny or WHAT?

On Thursday, the underground cult hit Chico’s Angels returns to LA for the sixth year! It’s a stage spoof of Charlie’s Angels starring three Latina drag queens!

This looks like an absolute hoot and I’m gonna catch it for sure. This summer’s show is titled: Chico’s Angels 2: Love Boat Chicas! Its characters are Kay Sedia (the pretty one), Chita Parol (the smart one), and Fredia Laye (the “friendly” one). In this play, they are on the high seas to find out who murdered … Charo!

Kay goes undercover as Charo, (Fortunately, she is the spitting image of the Spanish classical guitarist). The Angels discover almost everyone onboard has a motive for killing Charo.  They also discover themselves being entranced by the Love Boat’s charm as Kay risks blowing her cover to be with her dance partner, Dickardo, while Frieda finds herself inexplicably drawn to retiree passenger, Ruth Bliss, and Chita tries resist the hypnotic effect of the combination of Bossman, a full moon and a bottle of tequila.

You can catch this madness at Cavern Club Theater inside Casita Del Campo Restaurant – 1920 Hyperion, Los Angeles, 90027. The show runs from June 11 through July 19. Performances are Thursday through Sunday. Tickets can be purchased through www.chicosangels.com.

I’m also told Chico’s Angels have filmed three mini-episodes that will premiere sometime this summer.
