The Newsweek covers that didn’t get picked
I love the New Yorker gay marriage cover so much that I am framing it.
The Newsweek cover, notsomuch.
It’s not like the magazine did not have plenty of other options besides the rainbow halo over Obama’s head and the misleading headline which read: “The First Gay President.”
Anyway, Newsweek has posted online some of the other covers they were considering and I thought I’d share them with you to see if you prefer any of those over what was ultimately selected.

I get it. But it’s still a bad cover. You’re asolutely right: New Yorker cover was very good. Newsweek cover almost looks like something thought up by the KKK.
Danny says:
Agree that the Newsweek cover lacked something…tact and taste mostly. I wish they would have gone with either of the first two other option (the white house flying the pride flag or Obama’s face in pride colors). Those two options just seem a little classier
Charlie G. says:
I like the Obama face in rainbow colors. The title “The gay president” just isn’t necessary.
