“The Nate Berkus Show” has been canceled!

I wasn’t a regular viewer of The Nate Berkus Show but I’ve seen enough episodes over the past two seasons to know that he had become a relaxed and charming host who was nice to spend time with.

Sadly, the first nationally syndicated talk show to feature an openly gay man as host has been canceled and will end production after its current second season.

I have done a story on the cancellation for Gay Star News so do click over and read it. Also, here is a LINK to an interview I did with Nate last year just before the show launched.

  1. Relaxed and charming but where was the shop ‘snap’? Watched show several times but there was no connection for me.

  2. Greg, wasn’t the “Charlie Perez (talk) show” the “first nationally syndicated talk show to feature an openly gay man as host”???

  3. Saw it once and fell alseep, maybe he was just too mellow for his own good?

  4. I can understand it! He’s cute but BORING!! I’m surprised the show made it to a 2nd season!!

  5. Boring? Not at all…first season was, but the 2nd season’s new time slot in HD has been so much fun..I’m so sad that it’s been cancelled! Nate is a warm and cool guy who connects with guests and the audience. Boo Hoo.

  6. I blame the low ratings on the terrible time slot. 2pm is a tough time. Life is busy. I know that his show will be missed by his fans. You get some great tips and ideas when watching the show. I will really miss it.

  7. Are you kidding me? Cancelling the Nate show is CRAZY! What was it missing? Nothing. Had it all. Where else can you get such clear, real life, real design situations with real people? Affordable fixes for the novice “got a house, got a room, but now what?” people like me. Learned so much about design but really enjoyed the cooking segments as well as the current fashion advice for ” real people”. And Nate? I love his easy, comfortable, down to earth, and naturally humorous way. Just like getting to hang out with a fun friend every day. Aired opposite of Rachael Ray in my area and was never a doubt in my mind who to watch – NATE. Actually I think I enjoyed his personaluty even more than I did Queen Oprah’s! So naturally funny talking about times with his Mom. Don’t know if he ever had her on the show (don’t think so since I record every show) but would have livoved it. Gay? Just part of his amazing charm. So comfortable with himself. Where do I sign up to get him back? Hopefully the OWN network will pick him up FAST. Never voiced my opinion re: any other show in my lifetime. Most enjoyable show ever.

  8. I am sorry to see that the Nate show is cancelled. When they get a good thing why do they have to cancel for some of those silly reality shows. This show had everything. I made my afternoon watching around the Nate show at 2pm in my area and Dr Oz on another channel at 4pm. What can we do to bring back this show? He had so many good ideas, so much design info, lots of fashion and cooking. Just an all around good show. Please, someone pick up this show and bring it back next season. It only leaves me HGTV for design ideas and there are too many House Hunters International on that show.

I absolutely LOVE Nate Berkus – real decorating, cooking and fashion information all in one great show. I learned SO MUCH from him and I truly hope that OWN will have the good sense to pick up this show PRONTO. They could really use his kind of show to pump up and diversify OWN’s own schedule!

  10. We want Nate back. He is terrific, charming and a pleasure to
watch and to learn from for us who are not decorators.

he offered so much to the ordinary housewife.

  11. Omg!!!!!

Not nate that sucks Oprah save him!!!

  12. I am so sad they cancelled this show. Sometimes I would be late for work just so I could watch his show, which was ok because I work with my husband! I even looked into getting tickets to his show for my birthday present, which is the day after his! My family knew just how much I loved his show. Loved all his segments about decorating, fashion, cooking! No one on TV is as warm, accepting and as compassionate as Nate! Cancel some of the trashy shows and bring Nate back! Who do I need to write to express my opinion!!!! I have never written in about any show but this one deserves to come back!!!!

  13. Found this show so lacklustre, Nate was far too saccharine sweet, he is a fabulous savvy designer but no tv host, couldn’t figure out why he would include cooking and fashion when he is so good at the design, far too little of the design aspect and too much on cooking/fashion which he has no link too, just didn’t have the personality to maintain his show, he knows all kind of tricks and tips and should have expanded this far more than what he had on the show, included all these stupid games on the show too like celebrities running around trying to match price tags on items, it was laughable

  14. It was one of the most refreshing shows on. He was so real and kind. Not like almost other host

  15. I was so used to seeing the Nate Berkus Show that I now feel lost. When not home I recorded the show. I now look online and he does not have a website. What happened? Will he ever air again? I thought he would be off just for the summer. Please reply. Thank you.
