The Fabulous Beekman Boys are engaged! Congrats to Brent Ridge and Josh Kilmer-Purcell
Just saw this on Facebook and am so happy for Brent Ridge and Josh Kilmer-Purcell who have announced their engagement.
They are, of course, the stars of their own show on Planet Green about the transition of two gay city boys who bought an estate and farm in upstate New York and attempt to become gentlemen farmers.
Josh is a best-selling author and advertising executive and Brent is a physician and former vice president at Martha Stewart Living.

When I met the pair last year, Brent told me he had no problem with the show being labeled as some kind of real-life Green Acres, the popular 60s sitcom starring Eddie Albert and Eva Gabor about a fish-out-of-water couple who move to from Manhattan to a farm: “We know that people are going to make that comparison and I think at some level that’s truthful.”
I wondered if the cameras captured a true picture of their lives and their personalities.
“There’s not a camera in the world that would stop me from nagging him,” Josh said. “It really was just the first few days of having cameras around us that we noticed them. Now it’s second nature for us. It’s an incredibly realistic portrayal of our lives, the lives of people making a change. We made a pretty drastic change.”

Mucho Mazel, guys! That’s fantastic news. I put forth my standing offer to sing at their wedding ceremony and/or reception for free*, plus THEY get to choose the songs! (*travel&lodging not included).

Congrats on this and the race. You are both amazing people and good roles models for children struggling with gender issues. As a teacher, I thank you both.
