The brilliant Chico’s Angels want to make a movie and you can donate to their IndieGOGO campaign!
Outfest ends tomorrow night and I will then be free for other types of entertainment after 11 days of films.
One of the first things I plan to do is head over to Cavern Club Theater inside Casita Del Campo in Silverlake to catch Chico’s Angels: Chicas in Chains.
This trio never fails to deliver – they really are so funny with impeccable timing and delicious chemistry. Their characters are Frieda Laye, Kaye Sedia and Chita Parol and they have been portrayed for the past 13 years on stage by Danny Casillas, Oscar Quintero and Ray Garcia, respectively.
The terrific trio also plans to make a movie of their exploits and have kicked off an IndieGooGo campaign this week to try and raise $300,000, half the movie’s budget .
Fans of this act know that this could be a real scream – imagine the close-ups!
On the page they state: “Thirteen years ago, we hit the stage with a little loving spoof of Charlie’s Angels featuring three Latina beauties, which has turned into 4 stage shows (Episodes), a webseries, music videos, numerous event performances and many event hosting gigs. We’re proud of how we have grown and apparently it struck a chord with many of you out there because almost daily we get asked how we do it all & still stay so beautiful?, or will you take my case?, or where are your papers? But more than anything else, we get asked: When are you going to make a Chico’s Angels movie?’ Well, guess what, Cholas! We finally have an answer.”
The goal is to begin production next spring and the fundraising effort will last 58 more days
I’ll let the “ladies” tell you more about it:
