The “American Idol” finalists are set!
Once Crystal Bowersox, Lee DeWyze and Casey James made the top three on American Idol, you knew next week’s final would be good because this is one talented trio!
But only two could advance to the final which meant the end of the road for one of them. That person was blond bombshell Casey who was voted off the show after a lackluster semifinal performance.
“I’m so thankful for the opportunity. It’s been such an amazing, amazing journey,” the 27-year-old Texan said.
Despite a pair of strong performances this week, Bowersox still seemed surprised to have made it through: “I’m safe?” she asked in disbelief.
A front-runner from the beginning of the season, Crystal is the first female Idol finalist since Jordin Sparks in 2007. But she will have to have the night of her life next week to beat the surging Lee DeWyze who seems poised to win.
Judge Randy Jackson said on Wednesday that DeWyze had “blossomed beyond belief” during the five month-long season.
Lee himself admitted: “I’ve never wanted to win more than I do right now.”
The 2010 “American Idol” will be crowned live on Fox television on May 26 after a two-part finale, and will win a recording contract. Among the stars who have emerged from the show are Grammy winners Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson (also an Oscar winner), as well as that of best-selling band headed by Chris Daughtry, Clay Aiken and Adam Lambert.
