The American Foundation for Equal Rights (AFER), the group formed specifically to challenge the constitutionality of Prop 8, California’s gay marriage ban, has released this Thanksgiving video from the two couples who are the lead plaintiffs in the lawsuit seeking to overturn the ban.
They are Jeff Zarrillo and Paul Katami, and Kristin Perry and Sandra Stier and they are thankful for their relationships.
Said Zarrillo: “It would be really important that if this was the year that we could finally get married. That this would be our last Thanksgiving as bachelors,” he said.
Thanks for all the good wishes! We’ve come a very long way, got a long way to go until we’re reached our intended goals! And of course we all have so much to be thankful for, and continue to commit to our resolve to push for all our civil and human rights until the enemies of our freedoms are totally defeated, if not for us for the ones yet unborn that will benefit. Aloha!
