Tennis News: Federer’s winning streak ends
Roger Federer had won three straight tournaments since May including the French Open and Wimbledon.
But in Montreal earlier today, the top-ranked Swiss superstar was finally brought down to Earth when he lost a close quarterfinal match to Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 7-6, 1-6, 7-6.
Federer is the new daddy of a pair of twins and was playing for the first time since Wimbledon a month ago. He plays next week in Cincinatti to try and sharpen his game. We will see how motivated he remains. He’s already been annointed the greatest player of all time with 15 grand slam wins.
Better to lose now than next month at the US Open where Federer will be trying to win the championship for the sixth straight year
