Tammy Lynn Michaels says she was blindsided by Melissa Etheridge’s legal filing and has no money

Tammy Lynn Michaels has taken to Twitter to let it be known that she was blindsided last week by Melissa Etheridge’s legal filing to dissolve their domestic partnership.

She said the former couple had agreed not to file until the fall when Etheridge was finished touring and writes that she found out about the legal filing through headlines. Etheridge is seeking joint custody of the couple’s two children.

I’m no lawyer but it looks to me that Michaels may be positioning herself for some major financial payout because she is saying she gave up her acting career for Melissa and motherhood. She was on of the stars of the cult fave Popular (from Glee creator Ryan Murphy) and also was a regular on the NBC comedy Committed which lasted one season.

She Tweets: “I gave up my managers, agents, contacts, all that good stuff, because I stepped directly into potty training a small boy, and carrying around a small girl on my hip. both excellent souls. and i was a very huge part in raising them for many many years while She with the Guitar focused on her Guitar.”

Apparently Melissa is not providing any financial support to her estranged spouse: “The other week i had to borrow money from a friend,” Tammy writes. “Two weeks ago i had to scrape together $1.25 to pay for gas. I know she doesn’t want to give me money. trust. I’m borrowing cash left and right from people to get through this summer, and feed my kids, with a stomach full of ulcers, thank you. no stress here. :-)”

This has gotten very ugly folks.
