Tina Turner, born 84 years ago today, left us earlier this year and it was one of those celebrity deaths that seemed to be felt very deeply far and wide.

The queen of rock and roll had several health setbacks in her later years including a stroke and suffered the loss of a son in 2018. But after completing a new autobiography she showed in interviews that she was one helluva survivor. In the fall of 2018, a musical based on her life opened on Broadway.

She had come back from years of domestic violence at the hands of ex-husband and ex-singing partner Ike Turner with whom she had such hits as A Fool in Love, River Deep – Mountain High, Proud Mary and Nutbush City Limits.

On her own she had been a far bigger star with so many hits including Simply the Best, Let’s Stay Together, We Don’t Need Another Hero , Better Be Good to Me, Private Dancer, I Don’t Wanna Fight, Typical Male and What You Get Is What You See.
