Singing hunk Steve Grand celebrates 10th anniversary of his breakout YouTube hit “All-American Boy”
Steve Grand has spent most of the last three years or so on his successful swimwear business instead of performing or recording. He has many fans – including me – who hope he returns to music soon.
Steve took to social media today to reflect on a major milestone:
Today is the 10th anniversary of “All-American Boy” – the song that introduced me to so many of you. The release of this song was perhaps the singular most pivotal moment of my life. It created so many incredible opportunities for me, but best of all, it connected me with so many of you from all of the world. (Link for video in comments below )
I may not have ‘made-it’ in the way I had dreamed of since I was a little kid, but 10 years later, I still get approached on the street, at the airport, in restaurants, in my DMs; you tell me about the first time you heard the song and what it meant / means to you. Men (and even some women ;)) of all ages. 18-80s.
That was, and continues to be, the most enriching, humbling part of this journey.
So please know, from the bottom of my heart, how grateful I am to have your support, and how honored I am to know that this song occupy some small, special place in your heart.????❤️
One of the really cool things about this song being 10 years old (& I’m getting older right along with it ???? ????) is that I’m now getting to hear about how this song impacted young gay and lesbian kids at the time. Some who were in middle school or high school when the song came out. Some say it helped them accept themselves; for others, it gave them the courage to come out to friends / family. For some it highlighted their own feelings of unrequited love in the moment, and for others it reminded them of an old flame that had gone out long ago, but never left their hearts.
I never know when or where I’m going to be approached with one of these stories, and sometimes my immediate life situation gets in the way, but I do my best to be totally present in those moment, and hear whatever you have to share with me.
It’s always a powerful reminder that, ‘oh yeah. That did happen. A song I wrote resonated with a lot of people in a powerful way and still does to this day… and WOW, how LUCKY I was to receive this song and be it’s vessel. ❤️????
I’ve had so many unforgettable, enriching experiences that came about from this song. I’ve had the privilege to travel and perform for so many of you all over the country and even several other countries.
I’ve worked with some of the best, most accomplished musicians in the business. Just see the credits in the liner notes ????. Grammy winners, artists who have sold millions of records, etc…
Now it certainly has not been all sunshine and rainbows… no journey ever is.
Maybe we’ll do that another day. But on this anniversary, I really want to focus on the powerful, positive, enriching aspects of it.
So again, THANK YOU to everyone who has supported me for any length of time on this journey.???? Especially those of you who have shared my music / videos, bought merchandise from my store shop.SteveGrand.com, and came to 1 of the hundreds of live performances I’ve done around the world.
And I want to give an extra special shout out to my original “GRAND-FAM” – many of you who followed me around the country and saw multiple shows – you know who are ???? – your kindness, love, and patience during such a chaotic, special moment of my life will never be forgotten. ????❤️☺️
RIP to Ryk & Joey & all the others we have lost…❤️❤️❤️
With love and gratitude,
– Steve

Congratulations to Steve Grand!!
For me, he falls into the stereotypical muscle-bound gay boy category that is around these days/years. You wonder if there is any substance there.
BUT one thing I give the boy credit for is his grit and hustle. He has done well for himself with his underwear/swimwear line, yearly calendars, and recordings.
I tip my hat!!
