Staunch LGBT ally Cyndi Lauper wins Tony Award!
She already had a Grammy and an Emmy.
Now Cyndi Lauper is a Tony Award winner too and an Oscar win away from becoming an EGOT.
The sensational Cyndi won for best score for the musical Kinky Boots and she was surprised: “OK, … I can’t say I wasn’t practicing in front of the shower curtain for a couple of days for this speech,” she admitted before launching into her thank-yous.
“I gotta thank my mom for sharing all that wonderful music. I wrecked all her Broadway musicals when I was a kid, the cast albums. That’s how I learned how to sing.
“And I want to thank Harvey Fierstein for calling me up. I’m so glad I was done with the dishes. I answered the phone.
“And I want to thank Broadway for welcoming me. This city, … I’ve never been a stranger to hard work, but your hard work inspires me.”
She thanked the cast. And then she got teary as she thanked “my family. My wonderful family. My son and my husband who inspire me. And Declyn, (her teen son), thank you for inspiring me about the sound. …
“And everybody else in my category, I feel honored to be part of this community. … Thank you very, very, very much.”
What a class act!

LOVE her soooo much!
I think the biggest surprise of her winning was that she is the 1st woman EVAH! to win the Tony for Best Score! How is possible that a woman has never won before? Could it be because there are few women writing score?
