Snapped! Martina Navratilova poses with fellow “Dancing With the Stars” competitor Melissa Gilbert

If Martina Navratilova could manage to beat Chris Evert 43 times during their 80 matches, then I figure Half-Pint from Little House in the Prairie doesn’t have a chance against the mighty Martina on Dancing With the Stars!

Half-Pint is, of course, Melissa Gilbert who proved to be pretty gritty herself during the four years she was president of the Screen Actors Guild. I was covering the unions then for the LA Daily News and will never forget the time I was having breakfast with Melissa at Jerry’s Deli in Woodland Hills and in walked Marion Ross from Happy Days who brought her own flowers for her table.

Melissa and I stopped by on our way out and I was introduced to the woman Fonzie always called Mrs. C. It was like being at the TV Land Awards!
