Showtune Sunday: Super Bowl musical memories with a trio of divas: Cher, Diana Ross and Madonna

Okay, true confession time: I ran these same videos a year ago on Super Bowl Sunday.

But I’m running them again because it’s fun to make the Super Bowl about a trio of divas beloved by the gays: Cher, Diana Ross and Madonna.

Cher never sounded or looked better than the year she sang the national anthem before the big game (I think in 1999) and well, Miss Ross delivered a simply awesome 1996 halftime show that I watched at the gay bar Ripples in Long Beach.

And finally, Madonna. She did the halftime show a few years ago and mostly got terrific reviews – at least far better than her most recent appearances on the Grammys and on Miley Cyrus Unplugged.
