Showtune Sunday: “Some People” sing off!
Some People is one of Mama Rose’s big numbers in Gypsy and so many of our great divas have nailed it over the years in their own way.
Here are Bernadette, Liza and Patti doing their versions and they are also part of a wonderful compilation in the final video that includes Merman, Midler, Landbury, Garland, Buckley, Tyne Daly and Linda Lavin.

While Ethel Merman will also play in my head – Patti LuPone IS Rose, way ahead of the pack. I wish there was more of Judy Garland’s version, she was amazing. As was Tyne Daly. The early Liza was a great concert rendition!!!
