Showtune Sunday: Relive some memorable musical numbers from past Emmy Award telecasts

Neil Patrick Harris, tonight’s Emmy host, has said in interviews that he’s not going to have a big musical opening this year.

Not sure what he has in mind but I do know that he killed it in his previous hosting stint with a number about not touching the remote – how did he remember all the words to that song?

Jane Lynch also did well in her musical opening the year she hosted.

But the most stupendous Emmy opening number that I can recall came in 2010 when Jimmy Fallon hosted and with the help of Glee cast members (including the late Cory Monteith) plus Tina Fey, Jon Hamm and others, he led a rockin’ Born to Run.
