Showtune Sunday: “Maybe This Time” by Liza, Audra, Bassey, Chenoweth and even Emma Stone!
In Cabaret, Sally Bowles sings of her hope that, against all odds, this time her love affair is going to last.
Though originally written in 1964 for a different purpose, the song was put into the 1972 version of the 1966 Cabaret musical. This is one of two numbers added and has been included in subsequent revivals.
Of course Liza Minnelli’s is the definitive version but it’s fun to see some of our other divas take their turn and to see Emma Stone and Michelle Williams who most recently played Sally on Broadway.

Caught the film version last night on TCM…forgot how really great this film is!
All are great…Joel grey nails it and Michael York’s facial profile is so right against the back drop of Liza’s green painted finger nails…so good!
They don’t make them like this any more!
