Showtune Sunday: From Garland to Buble, three all-star duets of “The Christmas Song”
The Christmas Song, commonly subtitled Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire, was written in 1944 by Mel Tormé and Bob Wells. According to the late, great Tormé, the song was written during a blistering hot summer in an effort to “stay cool by thinking cool.”
I present to you three versions in duet form.
The first is Mr. Torme himself with Judy Garland followed by the hot pairing of Michael Buble and Chris Isaak and finally the lovely Natalie Cole with Andrea Bocelli.
Enjoy!
